In my quest to break out of pure realism, this was the first painting I did completely from imagination. It began with mark making in oil. I felt like it needed a face in the middle of the painting and the marks suggested a dragon to me. As I painted, I began to feel as if she was dreaming these dragons into existence (you can even see some shadowy shapes below that look like they might start to become fully formed dragons. I am certainly not dragon obsessed, but I know better than to question my muse:)
