This is after the initial layers of acrylic and acrylic ink. I felt it was ready to start putting in a face. I had no plan beyond that at this time
i started to put the face in and decided she needed the shoulder.
I decided she needed a body but she also needed some sort of companions. I kept thinking of the little Wolf Medicine painting I had done. I decided she needed wolves.
I looked up “Wolf woman” and found a Portuguese myth of Peeira (peh-EYE-rah). She is a benevolent, shape-shifting mythical creature from northern Portugal, often described as a half-woman half-fairy who protects wolves and the forest. She can transform between human and wolf forms, possesses intelligence and power, and has a deep connection to the natural and spirit worlds. She can command and heal wolf packs.
She kept telling who she was, it just took me a little bit to catch on.
But this painting would go through many revisions and additions until she arrived at who she and it was meant to be.
