Here is the acrylic mark making of the painting before I layed in the portrait in oils. Like looking for shapes in clouds, it suggested a face with maybe some loosely cat or rabbit ear like shapes in the drips above and I went from there. I started with only the eye on the right and as i went new facial features seemed to want to come out. In the end I felt like she was eating the marks and brush strokes. This is the most self-portraitish painting I have ever done. Not literally me, but symbolically. Paint is my sustenance.
